What does anytime day single mean?
Anytime Day Singles and Returns are available on many shorter journeys and can be used between two designated stations at anytime of the day on the date shown on the ticket.
How long is an anytime single valid for?
Anytime Single Must be used within 2 days of the date shown on the ticket, and up until 04:29 after the second day.
What does an anytime day return mean?
Anytime tickets give you the freedom to travel whenever you want. You can buy a Single, Day Return, or Open Return ticket for train journeys on any day, and at any time. The flexibility of Anytime tickets means you don’t have to book them in advance.
Can I use an off-peak single at any time?
Off-Peak Day Single tickets are valid for outward travel on the date shown on the ticket and until 04:29 the following morning. Not applicable. The National Rail Journey Planner will automatically work out which tickets are valid for your journey.
Can I break my journey on a single ticket?
Yes, you can break your journey while travelling with an Anytime Single or Return ticket. This means you can get off the train at any connecting stop and leave the station, before boarding a later train to complete your journey.

Advance fares are single (one-way) tickets offering great value for money on many longer distance journeys. You must book in advance* of travel and fares are sold in limited numbers and so subject to availability. In general, the further ahead you book, the cheaper the Advance fare will be.
